New features and improvements in KSS NG

Improvements to the KSS NG installer

Run the KSS NG installer faster and more easily with the addition of an automated .NET setup process. Use the new KSS NG installer to automatically detect, download, and install the .NET framework and its prerequisites.

Silent installation

A new option to perform silent installations of KSS NG is now available. Execute the installer with specified command line prompts to seamlessly install KSS NG without user prompts. See Perform a silent installation for details.

Service mode

You can now install and use KSS NG in Service mode as the default option. Enjoy a modernized version of KSS NG with improved support and performance with Service mode. Service mode also automatically restarts KSS NG if the service times out or crashes.

Service mode logs and processes messages whenever the server is up and the service is running, even if you are not logged in to the server. Application mode logs and processes messages only when you are logged in to the server and the application is running.

Application mode is no longer supported in KSS NG version 1.1. If you are currently using Application mode, uninstall and reinstall KSS NG to switch to Service mode.

Installation or upgrade

For new installations, you can download the installation file from the product page or the Customer Portal.

For information about how to install Kiwi Syslog Server NG, see the KSS NG Install Guide.

Kiwi Syslog Server NG is a separate application from the legacy version of Kiwi Syslog Server. If you installed the legacy version of Kiwi Syslog Server, you must either uninstall it or stop the KSS server before installing Kiwi Syslog Server NG. Legacy Kiwi Syslog Server and Kiwi Syslog Server NG cannot run on the same machine because they use the same listening ports.
