Documentation forIP Address Manager

Add SNMP credentials

The Add SNMP Credentials view provides the ability to edit SNMP credentials.

The following steps detail the process of editing SNMP credentials IPAM uses to monitor your network.

The following steps detail the process of adding and storing SNMP credentials for IPAM to use while monitoring your network.

To add an SNMP credential to IPAM:

  1. Navigate to Settings > All Settings > IPAM Settings.
  2. Click SNMP Credentials.
  3. Click Add in the tool bar.
  4. Enter an appropriate Display Name.
  5. Select the SNMP Version. This can be SNMP v1, v2c, or v3.
    • IPAM uses SNMPv2c by default.
    • If you select SNMPv2c, and do not want SolarWinds IPAM to use SNMP v1 if an SNMPv2c request fails, confirm that Use SNMP v2 only is checked.
  6. Enter the SNMP Port. The default is 161.
  7. To use either SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c for subnet scanning, provide at least one valid read-only Community String for the devices you want to scan.

IPAM requires the public Community String, at minimum, for subnet scanning.

  8. To use SNMPv3 for subnet scanning, provide the following settings:
    • SNMPv3 User Name and Context
    • SNMPv3 Authentication Method and Password/Key
    • SNMPv3 Privacy/Encryption Method and Password/Key
  9. Click Save.
