Amazon SNS (AWS)

Follow these steps to configure a service and seamlessly transfer related alert data from AWS through Amazon SNS.

Incident Response will process the information and create incidents based on your preferences.

Using Amazon SNS as an Alert Source

  1. Navigate to Services -> Service Overview -> select or search for your Service. Expand the accordion -> In the Alert Sources section, click Add.

  3. Select Amazon SNS. Copy the displayed Webhook URL to configure it within Amazon SNS. Finish by clicking Add Alert Source -> Done.

Steps to add Amazon SNS integration to a service in Squadcast

When an alert source turns Active, it’ll show up under Configured Alert Sources. You can either generate a test alert from the integration or wait for a real-time alert to be generated by the Alert Source.

An Alert Source is active if there is a recorded incident via that Alert Source for the Service.

Create a Incident Response Webhook in Amazon SNS

  1. Now log in to your AWS account and proceed to SNS.

  2. Click on "Create topic" to configure the display name and related details. Fill in the details as per your requirements and then click on "Create topic".

  3. Create a Squadcast Webhook in Amazon CloudWatch - Topic Configuration: Fill in Details and Create Topic

  4. Now inside the topic, click on "Create subscription" to get "Create subscription" page. Select the protocol as "HTTPS" and in the endpoint enter the URL that was copied from Incident Response. Finally, click on "Create subscription" to create the subscription.

Ensure that the Enable raw message Delivery checkbox remains unchecked.

  1. The "Subscription ID" for the subscription should immediately change from "PendingConfirmation" to "Confirmed". Click on the refresh button to verify the same.

  2. Verify Subscription Status - Refresh to Confirm Change from "PendingConfirmation" to "Confirmed"

  3. Now you can go to any of your AWS services for which you want to set the Alarm. You can choose the new "Topic" you have created as the notification channel.

Your Amazon CloudWatch Integration is now good to go!

  • Whenever an Alarm moves to OK state the corresponding incident will automatically be resolved in Incident Response.
