WMI Browser tool

The WMI Browser tool in ETS for the Desktop is used to monitor various statistics on your Windows servers using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Many vital server health indicators can be accessed using WMI. In the WMI Browser tool, you can view multiple WMI statistics simultaneously.

Open the WMI Browser tool

  • To launch the tool from the Toolset Launch Pad, locate the WMI Browser tool and click Launch.

  • You can add the tool to a tab in the Workspace Studio, and access it from there.

  • To launch the tool from the Windows Start menu:

    1. Click Start > All > SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset.

    2. Right-click <snippetVariable>, click More, and click Run as administrator.

Monitor WMI statistics

  1. Enter the IP address or host name of the switch you want to monitor, and then select or enter the credentials used to communicate with the device. See Add device credentials.

  2. Click OK.

  3. To filter the WMI counter list, select a filter from the Filter By list.

  4. Browse the WMI folders and check each item you want to display.

  5. Click View Selections.

  6. Click Refresh to update the view with the latest statistics.

    • To remove any monitored items, check the items you want to remove, and then click Delete Selected.

    • To add more WMI counters, click Browse, and then repeat the previous steps.
