MAC Finder tool

The MAC Finder tool in ETS for the Desktop is used to search a list of switches for a specific MAC address. This is helpful when you are looking for a MAC address but do not know the associated device.

Open the MAC Finder tool

  • To launch the tool from the Toolset Launch Pad, locate the MAC Finder tool and click Launch.

  • You can add the tool to a tab in the Workspace Studio, and access it from there.

  • To launch the tool from the Windows Start menu:

    1. Click Start > All > SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset.

    2. Right-click MAC Finder, click More, and click Run as administrator.

Search for a MAC address

  1. Enter the MAC address you are searching for in the MAC Address to Find field.

  2. To search have already been added to Workspace Studio, drag the switches from the Devices tab to the Devices to Search list in the MAC Finder gadget.

  3. To search have not been added to Workspace Studio, enter the IP address or host name and the SNMP community string in the provided fields under Manually Add IP or host name, and then click Add device.

  4. To hide Cisco trunk port results, select Do not display Cisco trunk ports.

  5. Click Search.
