Config Transfer tool
Use the Config Transfer tool in ETS for the Desktop to upload or download Cisco device configuration files. Download config files to archive them, or edit the file and upload your changes.

The TFTP service must be running before you launch this tool.

SNMP credentials must have write permissions.

Open the Config Transfer tool

To launch the tool from the Toolset Launch Pad, locate the Config Transfer tool and click Launch.

You can add the tool to a tab in the Workspace Studio, and access it from there.

To launch the tool from the Windows Start menu:

Click Start > All > SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset.

Right-click Config Transfer, click More, and click Run as administrator.

Download a config

Click Download Config From Router / Switch.

Click Select Router.
The Device and Credentials dialog opens.

Select an existing device, or click Add to enter a new device IP address and credentials. Then click OK.

Enter the name and location of the file to which the config will be saved.
If the option to specify a file name and location is not displayed, click Advanced Options.

Click Copy Config from Router/Switch to PC.

Specify whether you want to copy the currently running config or the startup config. Then click OK.
Upload a config

Copy the config file to the TFTP root directory.

Click Upload Config to Router / Switch.

Click Select Router.
The Device and Credentials dialog opens.

Select an existing device, or click Add to enter a new device IP address and credentials. Then click OK.

Confirm that the TFTP root directory listed at bottom of the dialog box is correct. If necessary, click Change TFTP Root Directory, and select the correct directory.
If the Change TFTP Root Directory button is not displayed, click Advanced Options.

Select the config file from the list of files.

Click Copy Config from PC to Router/Switch.

Specify whether you want to merge the config file contents with the currently running config or overwrite the startup config. Then click OK.
