Cisco ACL Editor tool

Use the Cisco ACL Editor tool in ETS for the Desktop to view, edit, and manage access control lists (ACLs) on Cisco devices. Syntax highlighting makes reading easier.

  • The TFTP service must be running before you launch this tool.

  • SNMP credentials must have write permissions.

Open the Cisco ACL Editor tool

  • To launch the tool from the Toolset Launch Pad, locate the Cisco ACL Editor tool and click Launch.

  • You can add the tool to a tab in the Workspace Studio, and access it from there.

  • To launch the tool from the Windows Start menu:

    1. Click Start > All > SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset.

    2. Right-click Cisco ACL Editor, click More, and click Run as administrator.

Download a config

  1. Specify the device IP address and credentials.

  2. Click Download Config.

    The config is shown in the text box below the device information.

    • In the Show drop-down menu, you can choose to display the entire config on only the ACL text.

    • Click to collapse the top section and display more of the config.

Edit the ACL rules and upload the changes

  1. Update the ACL rules as needed.

    To find text or find and replace text, click Find/Replace and enter a string. You cannot include wildcards.

  2. Specify whether you want to merge the uploaded text or replace existing ACL text:

    • To replace existing ACL rules with the uploaded text, select Negate Uploaded Access Lists. (This is selected by default.)

    • To add the uploaded ACL rules to the bottom of existing ACL rules, clear the Negate Uploaded Access Lists checkbox.

  3. Click Upload Current Text.

  4. Click Yes at the confirmation prompt.
