Install Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop

Complete the following tasks to install Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop.

Before you start

Before you install Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop, be sure to review the preparation checklist and the system requirements.

Get the installer

Download the installation file: 

  • If you are not a SolarWinds customer and would like to install a trial version, download the installation file from www.solarwinds.com/engineers-toolset.

    The trial version is fully functional for 14 days. It can be converted to a licensed version by applying a license.

  • If you are a SolarWinds customer, download the installation file from the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

    If you have not yet created a SolarWinds account, see Access the Customer Portal to create an account.

    1. Open the Customer Portal.
    2. In the Log In tab, enter your organization's SWID and your email address.
    3. In the Downloads tab, click Download Product.
    4. Use the product and license list dropdown menus to find Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop.
    5. Download the latest version of Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop.

Install Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop by running the installation wizard

  1. Log in as an administrator on the computer where you will install Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop.

  2. Run the installer .exe file that you downloaded.

  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

    The installer scans the environment to ensure that the system requirements are met. If there's an issue with your system, the installation stops, and the installer displays an error message describing the problem. You can find troubleshooting help in the Success Center. When you've resolved the issue, run the installer again.

Perform a silent installation of Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop

A silent installation bypasses the installation wizard and automatically installs Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop to C:\Program Files(x86)\SolarWinds\Toolset.

  1. Log in to Windows as an Administrator.

  2. Open a Command Prompt window.

  3. Change the directory to the location of the Engineer's Toolset for the Desktop installation .exe file.

  4. Enter the name of the .exe file followed by /quiet. For example:

    ToolsetEval.exe /quiet

A series of windows may open and close during the silent installation. You can safely ignore them.
