Dameware 12.3 Hotfix 1 release notes

Attention Dameware customers

These release notes apply to both Dameware Remote Support and Dameware Mini Remote Control 12.3 Hotfix 1. This hotfix requires Dameware version 12.3.0.12, available on the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

New features and improvements in Dameware

There were no features or improvements added for Dameware in this release.

Fixed customer issues

Case number Description
N/A Users are able to switch between monitors during MRC connection.
N/A Users are now able to take screenshots during MRC connection.
N/A Themes in MRC and DRS no longer appear blacked out.
N/A Users can change MRC agent language after upgrade.

Installation instructions

As you install this hotfix, take note of the files you add, remove, replace, or modify for your future reference should you decide to uninstall this hotfix at any point.

SolarWinds strongly recommends that you edit the files mentioned in this document only as instructed. Any additional modifications to these files may result in system performance issues or may cause an error. Back up any files before replacing to preserve your setup in case you encounter any issues while applying this hotfix.

To install this hotfix on Dameware Remote Support: 

  1. For new installations, download the installer from the SolarWinds website or from the Customer portal.

  2. Close any Dameware applications that are running.

  3. Go to the Dameware Remote Support installation folder. The default path is as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Dameware Remote Support

  4. Back up the following files from the installation directory to a separate location: 

    • DNTU.exe
    • DWExporter.exe
    • DWRCC.exe
    • DWRCD.dll
    • DWRCChat.dll
    • DWRCChat.dll.x64

  5. Copy the contents of the following two folders from this hotfix into the Dameware Remote Support installation folder, replacing the original 12.3.0.12 version files: 

    • Dameware Remote Support\x86
    • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86

 

To install this hotfix on the Dameware Mini Remote Control x86 version: 

  1. For new installations, download the installer from the SolarWinds website or from the Customer portal.

  2. Close any Dameware applications that are running.

  3. Go to the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder. The default path is as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Dameware Mini Remote Control

  4. Back up the following files from the installation directory to a separate location: 

    • DWRCC.exe
    • DWRCD.dll
    • DWRCChat.dll
    • DWRCChat.dll.x64

  5. Copy the contents of the following folder from this hotfix into the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder, replacing the original 12.3.0.12 version files: 

    • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86

 

To install this hotfix on the Dameware Mini Remote Control x64 version: 

  1. For new installations, download the installer from the SolarWinds website or from the Customer portal.

  2. Close any Dameware applications that are running.

  3. Go to the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder. The default path is as follows: C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Dameware Mini Remote Control x64

  4. Back up the following files from the installation directory to a separate location: 

    • DWRCC.exe
    • DWRCD.dll
    • DWRCChat.dll
    • DWRCChat.dll.Win32
  5. Copy the contents of the following folder from this hotfix into the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder, replacing the original 12.3.0.12 version files: 
    • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x64

Uninstallation instructions

To uninstall this hotfix: 

  1. Close any Dameware applications that are running.

  2. Copy the files from your backup folder to the Dameware installation folder you used in the previous steps, replacing hotfix files with the original 12.3.0.12 version files.
