Create and manage alerts for Active Directory (web client)

Create and manage Active Directory alerts within the ARM web client.

Create Active Directory alerts

Use the ARM web client to create alerts for Active Directory (AD) targets.

  1. Log into the ARM web client.

  2. Click Resources.

  3. Expand Active Directory.

  4. Navigate to the server or folder path where you want to create an alert.

  5. Click the vertical ellipsis. Click Create alert.

  6. Select the event type(Account locked, Group memberships changed, password reset). If you selected Group memberships changed, select Direct only (default) or Direct and indirect. Click Next.

  7. (Optional:) Turn on threshold settings. Set the number of events required to trigger an alert, and the monitoring time period. Click Next.

    Threshold settings are turned off by default. The threshold setting is useful when you are creating an alert for a set number of events within a set time period.
  8. Select the action(s) to be carried out for the alert ( Send email, Write to windows event log, write to syslog). Click Next.

  9. Select an alert category (information, warning, critical). Click Next.

  10. Review or edit the alert name. Enter any related comments regarding the alert. Click Create.

    The alert name is pre-filled. Edit the alert name to make any desired changes.

Manage Active Directory alerts

Manage the alerts for your Active Directory within the Resources in the web client. Active Directory servers within your ARM environment that have alerts have a bell icon next to their name.

Edit an Active Directory alert

  1. Log into the ARM web client.

  2. Click Resources.

  3. Expand Active Directory.

  4. Navigate to an Active Directory server where you want to manage alerts.

  5. Click the vertical ellipsis.

  6. Click Manage Alerts to open the Manage Alert page.

  7. Click the vertical ellipsis under the Manage tab for the desired alert.

  8. Click Edit Alert.

  9. Edit any settings within the Event, Threshold, Action, Category, and Alert Name steps.

  10. Click Apply to save your changes.

Delete an Active Directory alert

  1. Log into the ARM web client.

  2. Click Resources.

  3. Expand Active Directory.

  4. Navigate to an Active Directory server where you want to manage alerts.

  5. Click the vertical ellipsis.

  6. Click Manage Alerts to open the Manage Alert page.

  7. Click the vertical ellipsis under the Manage tab for the desired alert.

  8. Click Delete Alert.

  9. Enter a comment regarding why you want to delete the alert.

  10. Click Delete.
