Use Plan Mode

Plan Mode is a per-goal preview setting that lets you review how a goal would investigate and what it would propose before allowing it to take real actions. It is separate from autonomy: autonomy controls what a live goal can do, while Plan Mode determines whether the goal stops after planning.

Plan Mode controls whether a Goal runs in preview or live mode. Autonomy controls whether live actions need your approval. To execute actions under Conservative autonomy, turn off Plan Mode and approve each action when prompted.

Configure the default Plan Mode settings

  1. In Avior, click Settings > Autonomy.

  2. Turn the Default goals to Plan Mode toggle on.

This setting applies to newly created goals. Existing goals keep their current Plan Mode setting unless you change them individually.

With Plan Mode enabled, Avior runs the goal, then stops in the Plan Ready state. It continues to analyze your environment and recommend actions, but it does not execute anything.

The proposed actions are shown as read-only plan artifacts for review. They do not become pending approvals, human tasks, or executable actions from that historical plan.

  3. Review the analysis and proposed actions to validate their quality before turning Plan Mode off and allowing goals to move to a more active autonomy level.

Turn Plan Mode off for a goal

You can override the default autonomy settings for an individual goal.

  1. In Avior, go to Goals.

  2. Click into a goal card.

  3. Click Configuration on the left-hand menu.

  4. To run a goal with executable agent actions, turn the Plan Mode toggle off.

After you change this setting, the default Plan Mode setting no longer applies to this goal. The change affects the next run of the goal; it does not convert or execute an earlier plan.
