For information about new features in the SolarWinds Platform, see the SolarWinds Platform 2023.3 Release Notes.

Improved permissions

Log Analyzer 2023.3 includes new and improved permissions for the LogConfig.config file. These improvements include:

  • Security inheritance is turned off by default.
  • Group administrators and SYSTEM accounts have both read and write permissions. Permissions apply to any machine with Log Analyzer installed.
  • The SolarWinds Orion Application Pool account has read permissions. Permissions apply to machines with the Application Pool website.

The default location of the log config file is C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\OLM\LogStorage\LogConfig.config.

01224645, 01253263 Database maintenance no longer completes with errors or does not display data after performing a full text search.

Installation or upgrade

If you are upgrading from an earlier version, use the following resources to plan and implement your upgrade:

If you are upgrading from LA 2022.2, remove the following file from all agents (both local and remote) after upgrading and restart the SolarWinds Agent services:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Agent\Plugins\LA_WindowsEvents.Agent.plugin

Failure to remove this file after upgrading from SolarWinds Platform 2022.2 may result in future licensing conflicts.

Before you upgrade!

If you built syslog and trap alerts using custom SQL queries, they will not function after upgrading to 2022.3 or later. SolarWinds recommends you rewrite the alerts using SWQL (Orion.OLM entities) or using the alerting functionality built into Log Analyzer.
