New features and improvements in KSS NG

Log to SolarWinds Observability

Use the new Log to SolarWinds Observability rule action that is now available in Kiwi Syslog Server NG. Forward logs you receive through KSS NG to SolarWinds Observability, a comprehensive observability solution for managing cloud infrastructure, applications, networks, and more. To set up this rule action, see Log to SolarWinds Observability.

For detailed information about features and functionality, see SolarWinds Observability.

Upgraded to run on .NET 8

KSS NG has been updated to run on .NET 8, the newest version of the .NET framework. In the KSS  NG installer, the .NET 8 framework is automatically downloaded and installed to create a streamlined user experience and ease of installation. For details, view the .NET support policy.

Configure a specified port number

In the KSS NG installer, you can now configure and check a specified HTTPS port number to bind to the Kiwi Syslog Server NG web interface.

Persistency for log events

The display buffer has been improved to persist log events data. KSS NG can now save and reload up to 10,000 events per display buffer, even after Windows or the KSS NG service is restarted.

Process syslog messages without headers

UDP/TCP syslog messages that do not contain RFC headers can now be processed and displayed in the KSS NG web console.

Installation or upgrade

For new installations, you can download the installation file from the product page on https://www.solarwinds.com or from the Customer Portal.

For information about how to install Kiwi Syslog Server NG, see the KSS NG Install Guide.

Kiwi Syslog Server NG is a separate application from the legacy version of Kiwi Syslog Server. If you installed the legacy version of Kiwi Syslog Server, you must either uninstall it or stop the KSS server before installing Kiwi Syslog Server NG. Legacy Kiwi Syslog Server and Kiwi Syslog Server NG cannot run on the same machine because they use the same listening ports.
