WPM 2023.2 release notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in Web Performance Monitor 2023.2. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

WPM runs on the SolarWinds Platform. See the SolarWinds Platform release notes for information about changes to the platform.

WPM 2023.2 includes SolarWinds Platform updates, as described in the SolarWinds Platform 2023.2 Release Notes.

In WPM 2023.2, the following additional updates are included:

  • Chromium to v108.0.5359.179

  • Electron to v22.1.0

  • FIPS: Removed all references to WinHTTP and reverted to Boring SSL (Standard SSL shipped with Chromium)

WPM 2023.2 includes SolarWinds Platform fixes, as described in the SolarWinds Platform 2023.2 Release Notes.

WPM 2023.2 fixes the following issues.

N/A FIPS mode has been removed from WPM Recorder and Browser.

As of this release, the WPM Player configuration is now stored in a single file that will not be overwritten during upgrades, located at C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\SEUM\Data\AgentSettings.dat. Configurations that were move to AgentSettings.dat:

  • workerTimeoutS

  • numberOfWorkerProcesses

  • defaultWebServerPort

  • defaultCertificateSecuredServicesPort

  • maxPlaybacksPerWorker

  • proxyTrustedHosts agentProxyPort

In future releases, the rest of WPM Player configuration, such as domain accounts or workers configuration, will also be migrated.

For information about installing Web Performance Monitor in a new environment or upgrading an existing deployment, see the SolarWinds Platform Product Installation and Upgrade Guide.

You must be on WPM 2020.2.1 or later to upgrade to WPM 2023.2. If you are on WPM 2020.2 or earlier, first upgrade to 2020.2.6 and then upgrade to 2023.2.

  First issue summary
Issue Mac OS based recorder will not be updated in this release. The recorder will still function but is an older version and does not yet include the Chromium and Electron updates
Resolution or Workaround An updated Mac OS-based recorder is planned for a future release.
Until this update is implemented, you can record transactions using a Windows-based recorder if you need to take advantage of any of the improvements provided but the Chromium and Electron updates.

Deprecated WPM Recorder

Future releases may not support the ability to edit recordings or play transactions that originate in the Deprecated WPM Recorder. Use the latest Web Transaction Recorder to create recordings, instead. To deploy a new recorder, see the WPM Getting Started Guide.
