Discover and add network devices to SolarWinds Platform

When you install your SolarWinds Platform product, you must identify the devices you want to monitor, and add them to the SolarWinds Platform database.

• To automatically discover and add a larger number of devices across your enterprise, use the Network Sonar Discovery and Network Sonar Results Wizards.
• To add individual objects for monitoring, add single nodes using Node Management in the SolarWinds Platform Web Console.

Discovery Central

If you are not sure what to add or monitor, go to Settings > Discovery Central.

• The Recommended Actions section provides monitoring suggestions.

• The Features table lists available features and shows how they are currently used in your environment.

  • Use the available action buttons to quickly configure a feature.

  • Expand a feature for a brief a overview and a link to more details.

  • Features that require a license are marked with the license badge.

    • If you haven’t evaluated the feature yet, click Try Now to start a free trial.

    • If you want to keep using the feature after an evaluation license expires, purchase a license and activate the license. Click Activate.

• The What's New tab highlights features introduced in the current version, with a short overview and links to more information.
