Documentation forUser Device Tracker
Monitoring users, devices, and ports is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, User Device Tracker (UDT). Hybrid Cloud Observability and UDT are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Device Tracker Summary

The Device Tracker Summary view is your default page when you use the SolarWinds UDT. It provides the following widgets. These can be customized, if required, by clicking the Customize Page icon in the upper left corner of the view. For information on customizing SolarWinds pages, see Create, delete, modify, or restrict views.

widget Description
All UDT Nodes

The All UDT Nodes widget provides a list of nodes that have at least one device set up for UDT monitoring. These are grouped by node property, with a status icon and the node name displayed for each node. Expanding a node displays the ports for the node with a status icon and the port name displayed for each port.

  • Move the cursor over a port to display a summary of the port properties.
  • Click on a port to open the Device Tracker Port Details page.
Total Ports Currently Used

A pie chart showing the total number and percentages of used and free ports.

Top 10 Nodes by Percent Ports Use

The nodes with the highest percent of ports used, showing number of ports available and ports used. The number of ports shown can be changed if required.

Because comparing disparate statistic measurements are of limited use, it is suggested you create a Statistic Data widget containing filters to limit the statistic sources.

Ethernet Ports Used Over Time

Provides a customizable chart showing Ethernet ports usage for the last 30 days, 7 days or custom period.

Last 25 Events A list of the last 25 events that occurred on monitored devices. Click an event description to open the device details page. The number of events shown is customizable.
Rogue Devices

The Endpoints that had been found on your monitored network that do not comply to the white list inclusion (or ignore) rules.

For any device in the list you can:

  • Click the device name to display its Device Tracker Endpoint Details page.
  • Click Watch this device to open the Manage Watch List page.
  • Click Safe device to access the Add devices to the white list page, populated by the device information.
Device Watch List

Here you can create a list of hostnames, IP and MAC addresses, and usernames on the network that require your special attention for whatever reason.

To add, remove or modify devices on this list, click Manage List to access the Manage Watch List page.

For any device in the list you can:

  • Click its Name, IP Address or MAC Address to display its Device Tracker Endpoint Details page.
  • Click its Host Name to display the Device Tracker Endpoint Details page for its host.
  • Click its User Name to display the Device Tracker User Details for the associated user.
  • Click its Node or Access Point to display the Node Details page.
All User Log Ins

This lists all the users logged in within the monitored network. Logins are listed from most to least recent.

User Search (type in a username) to limit the list to the logins by a specific user.

Active Alerts

Provides a list of the active alerts associated with UDT devices and ports.

Top 10 SSIDs by Current # of Endpoints

Shows the 10 Service Set Identifiers (SSIDs) with the most current endpoint connections. The information is listed by SSID and the number of Current Endpoint Connections.

Endpoint Vendor

This pie chart shows the vendors by percentage of monitored devices. Move the cursor over the chart to show the percentages.

Beneath the chart, a table lists the vendors by number of devices.

Top 10 Access Points by Current # of Endpoints

Shows the 10 wireless access points with the most current endpoint connections. The information is presented in a table by Access Point and the number of Current Endpoint Connections.

Click and access point name to display its Device Tracker Access Point Details.
