Uninstalling SRM

You may need to uninstall SolarWinds SRM to reinstall for resolving issues or to move to a new server during a migration. Complete the following steps to remove only SRM from a SolarWinds Platform deployment (leaving other SolarWinds Platform products in place).

To uninstall your entire SolarWinds Platform deployment, see Uninstall all SolarWinds Platform products from a server and prepare for reinstall.

  1. Back up your SolarWinds Platform database and your product folders.

    If you need software to perform backups and maintenance for Microsoft SQL databases, you can install SQL Management Studio Express for your specific version of Microsoft SQL on your database server.

  2. Remove product licenses:
    1. In the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, select Settings > All Settings.
    2. Under Details, click License Manager.
    3. In the License Manager, select the SRM license. (This may be shown as Storage Manager.)
    4. Click Deactivate. The license is now parked - available but unused.
  3. Stop all SolarWinds Platform services:
    1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform server.
    2. Open the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager (Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Platform > Advanced Features > SolarWinds Platform Service Manager.)
    3. Click Shutdown Everything.
  4. Remove the module:
    1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
    2. Choose Uninstall or change a program.
    3. Make sure the list is sorted by Name and scroll to the SolarWinds Platform modules.
    4. Right-click the SRM module and choose Uninstall.
    5. Run the Configuration Wizard with all default options checked.

  5. Delete or rename any SRM folders and files in the following directories. If you installed to a different domain, look on that location instead of C:\.
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SRM
    • C:\inetpub\SolarWinds\Orion\images\InstanceTypeIcons\srm
    • C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\SRM
    • C:\inetpub\temp\IIS Temporary Compressed Files\SolarWinds Orion Application Pool\$^_gzip_C^\INETPUB\SOLARWINDS\ORION\SRM
    • C:\Windows\Temp\SolarWinds\Orion\ActiveDiagnostics\PlugIns\SRM
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\ActiveDiagnostics\PlugIns\SRM
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Modules\SettingInfo\SRM.SettingInfo.xml
  6. Restart the server.
  7. Use the SolarWinds Platform Installer to reinstall the module, if necessary.
