Documentation forNetwork Configuration Manager
Managing network configurations is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and is also available in a standalone module, Network Configuration Manager (NCM). Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and NCM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

NCM job types

When you create an NCM job, the following job types are available. You can run these jobs either manually or with a schedule.

Job type Description
Execute Command Script on Devices Executes a script on the selected nodes.
Upload Changes to Devices Uploads a modified configuration file to the selected NCM nodes.
Export Configs Exports the configuration files stored in the SolarWinds Platform database in order to create a backup copy. You can select which configs to export, the name of the file that is created, and the file location.
Perform Routine Database and Archive Maintenance Purges old config data, job logs, completed approval requests, and completed transfer requests from the SolarWinds Platform database and server.
Update Inventory Updates inventory details for specified NCM nodes.
Generate a Config Change Report

Compares the most recently downloaded config to one of the following:

  • To a baseline or to the last downloaded config of the selected type.

If you select Baseline, NCM compares the most recently downloaded config to all baselines assigned to the associated device.

  • To a config file from a specified date or date range.
Generate a Policy Report Runs the selected policy reports to locate any policy violations and then caches the results. For more information about viewing information about policy violations, see Find and remediate policy violations.
Purge Old Configs from Database Removes old configs from the database as an NCM performance safeguard.
Download Configs from Devices Downloads configuration files from the selected NCM devices.
Reboot Selected Devices Reboots the selected NCM devices.
