DPA Getting Started Guide
Use DPA to monitor, diagnose, and resolve performance problems for many types of database instances, both self-managed and in the cloud. DPA helps you investigate queries with consistently long wait times, inefficient queries, and unusually long wait times (anomalies).
To get started with DPA, complete the following tasks.

Install DPA and create the repository database. Get the installer:
Then use the DPA Installation and Upgrade Guide to access system requirements and planning checklists. When you are ready, install DPA. Then create the DPA repository, which is the database used to store DPA data. |

Register the database instances you want to monitor. Register each database instance that you want to monitor with DPA. When you are ready, activate a license for each registered instance. Evaluators, DPA is fully functional without a license during the 14-day trial period. After the trial period, you must activate a license to monitor an instance. |

|
Give users access to DPA functionality. A user with the Administrator or User Manager role can create user accounts and assign privileges. |

Define DPA alerts. Use DPA alerts to become aware of issues and address them proactively to limit the effect on end users. You can create the following types of alerts:

Configure DPA reports. Create DPA reports to capture the results of performance tuning and reveal database trends. You can send reports to managers, team members, and customers. You can view a report from the Reports tab at any time, or schedule the report to run automatically and be emailed to a group of recipients. |
