Important: These system requirements define the minimum requirements for UDT 3.4 as a single product installed on Orion Platform 2019.2. Requirements may increase for medium or large environments, or environments with multi-modules installed.

For additional information about requirements and configurations, see the Multi-module system guidelines. You should also review your product administration guides and release notes for the exact product requirements beyond these minimums.

You cannot install Orion Platform products on the same server as SolarWinds Access Rights Manager (ARM).

DNS specifications require that hostnames be composed of alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), the minus sign (-), and periods (.). Underscore characters (_) are not allowed. For more information, see RFC 952.

SolarWinds neither recommends nor supports the installation of any SolarWinds UDT product on the same server or using the same database server as a Research in Motion (RIM) Blackberry server.

Version 4.7.2 .NET Framework. This will be downloaded automatically if not found when the installer is run.

Orion SQL database requirements

The following table lists software and hardware requirements for your Orion Platform database server. SolarWinds UDT license levels are provided as a reference.

SQL Server	SQL Server 2014, SP1, SP2 SQL Server 2016, SP1, SP2 SQL Server 2017 SQL Server 2019 Due to latency effects, SolarWinds does not recommend installing your SQL Server and your SolarWinds UDT server or additional polling engine in different locations across a WAN. For more information, see SolarWinds Knowledge Base article Install SolarWinds software and SolarWinds database (SQL Server) across a WAN. Either mixed-mode or SQL authentication must be supported. If you are managing your SolarWinds UDT database, SolarWinds recommends you install the SQL Server Management Studio component. If your SolarWinds UDT product installs SQL Server System CLR Types, a manual restart of the SQL Server service for your SolarWinds UDT database is required. Use the following database select statement to check your SQL Server version, service pack or release level, and edition: select SERVERPROPERTY ('productversion'), SERVERPROPERTY ('productlevel'), SERVERPROPERTY ('edition')

The Configuration wizard installs the following required x86 components if they are not found on your SolarWinds UDT database server:

SQL Server System Common Language Runtime (CLR) Types. SolarWinds products use secure SQL CLR stored procedures for selected, non-business data operations to improve overall performance.

Enterprise-level SolarWinds UDT deployments with the potential for more than 50,000 ports may need additional computing resources above the standards required for SolarWinds common components:

Scalability

By adding individual polling engines, you can transparently scale your SolarWinds UDT installation to any environment.

Ports

UDT uses the following ports:

80	TCP	Inbound	Default web server port. If you specify any port other than 80, you must include that port in the URL used to access the web console. For example, if you specify an IP address of 192.168.0.3 and port 8080, the URL used to access the web console is http://192.168.0.3:8080. Open the port to enable communication from your computers to the Orion Web Console. The port might also be used for Cisco UCS monitoring.
161	UDP	Outbound	Used for SNMP (polling) traffic
1433	TCP	Outbound	Communication between the SolarWinds server and the SQL Server.
17777	TCP	Bidirectional	Information Service Protocol. Orion module traffic. Open the port to enable communication from your poller to the SRM Web Console, and from the SRM Web Console to your poller. The port used for communication between the Orion Web Console and the poller.
