Dynamic Rules for Custom Forms
Now Available in Labs
The goal when creating dynamic rules for custom forms is to allow you to display specific fields that gather all the necessary details in one shot. For our seasoned customers, you are familiar with each custom form including the definition of the category & sub-category it is intended for. Now, forms are a standalone group of fields. The dynamic form rules define when a form will appear.
Based on the details entered by the user, additional information regarding the current incident is requested. Let's look below to gain a better understanding of:
- Use case
- Setting up dynamic rules
An admin would like to display different forms for network incidents based on priority.
When the priority is not defined as Critical, the incident should include the Network Type.
- However, when the priority is defined as Critical, a dynamic form is displayed that requests additional information, such as: if the VPN is effected.
Based on the priority field, you define which forms to display.
How to begin?
- Create your Custom Forms and Custom Fields. (Click here to learn more on Custom Forms and Custom Fields).
- Navigate to your Setup Menu and select Service Desk.
Click Dynamic Form Rules.
Click the icon to display the New Dynamic Form Rule window.
Enter the mandatory information.
We support all the scopes you have come to know in the SWSD.
Define the condition set
Focus on the operator of Equals/Not Equal and define the value.
Edit relevant actions and save all changes
It is important to Edit the Action to reflect the details you wish to obtain.
When the conditions met are true, the Standard Network form will be displayed. When they are not met, the Critical Network form will appear.
Now you can quickly and easily decide how to best put this form into use.
