New features and improvements in SRM

SRM 2023.1 contains the following improvements.

  • Improved authentication for HPE MSA gen 6 devices (1060/2060) – HPE MSA authentication mechanism was moved from MD5 hash to SHA256. HPE MSA 4th gen will use only MD5, 5th gen will use MD5 and SHA256 and 6th gen will use only SHA256. There is a new option in centralized settings for SRM ‘MsaForceSha256Hashing’. This setting will disable the MD5 hashing algorithm when logging into the HPE MSA storage array. This will break polling for the HPE MSA Gen 4 storage array (HPE MSA 1040/2040).
  • Support for Data Domain SNMP authentication protocol SHA256
  • Support for InfiniBox IO Performance Monitoring Using Live Counters
  • Improved tools CIMBrowser and TemplateUpdater

SRM 2023.1 is built on the new SolarWinds Platform and installed with the new SolarWinds Installer.

Before Upgrading (for SRM Profiler/STM users only)

The SRM Profiler (also known as STM) reached EOL on January 1, 2022, and therefore integration between SRM and SRM Profiler is no longer supported. If you still have SRM Profiler integrated with SRM, you will need to disable integration before updating. Because the SRM license is held on the SRM Profiler, you will then need to deactivate the license and apply it to SRM.

If you try to upgrade while SRM Profiler integration is still active, the installation is halted and a warning message is displayed.

Step 1 - Disable SRM Profiler

  1. Navigate to Settings > All Settings > SRM Settings > Manage SRM Profiler Module Integration.

  2. Click Disable Integration.

Step 2 - Deactivate the License from the SRM Profiler

  1. Access the STM console (http://<ip address>:9000) using administration login credentials.

  2. Go to Settings > License Manager, then click Deactivate.

You will receive a pop up window that the license has been deactivated.

Step 3 - Apply the License to SRM

  1. Navigate to Settings > All Settings.

  2. In the Details section, click License Manager.

  3. Find SRM in the list of products and click Activate.

  4. Enter the license details for SRM from your customer portal.

Step 4 - Uninstall the SRM Profiler.

Installation and upgrade

Upgrades are not supported from SRM 2019.4.2 and older. Please upgrade to SRM 2023.1 from SRM 2020.2.x.

For information about installing Storage Resource Monitor, see help for the SolarWinds Installer, and refer to the SRM Getting Started Guide to learn about configuring and customizing SRM.

Use the SolarWinds Installer to upgrade your entire SolarWinds deployment (all SolarWinds Platform products and any scalability engines).

For details, see Install or upgrade SolarWinds Platform products.

End of life
