Documentation forServ-U File Server

Filters

Filters allow the files and folders being displayed to be customized for individual site profiles. This is especially useful when doing a folder Synchronization or Scheduler job when certain files should be omitted from the automated file operation. Filters can be applied to the Remote Browser and the Transfer Queue Pane.

Wildcards can be provided which provide greater control over file names that are filtered. Examples of wildcards are:

  • *.html - files ending with .html
  • *.exe - files ending with .exe
  • ?????.html - files starting with 5 characters, followed by .html
  • [dD]efault.html - either default.html or Default.html

File filters are stored per site profile and are separated into three sections:

Filters

>
Inclusion Filters Enter "inclusion" wildcards and/or file names here. You may also create a filter using the Filters dialog.
For example, if this field contains "*.html, *.css, *.jpg, *.png, and *.js" and the filter is applied to Remote Listings, then the Remote Browser displays files that match the "included" file extensions; while all other files that may be located within the working directory are hidden. This is an ideal case for handling a web site, as files that pertain to it are the only ones displayed and/or transferred.
Exclusion Filters Enter "exclusion" wildcards and/or file names here. You may also create a filter using the Filters dialog.
For example, if this field contains "*.htcaccess" and the filter is applied to Remote Listings, then the Remote Browser displays all files within the working directory except file names that match the "excluded" file extension. This is an ideal example for excluding files that should not be modified or moved.
Ignore Case Select No to include letter-case when filters are compared to file names. For example, if Ignore Case is Yes, then these file names are considered the same: FILENAME.TXT vs. filename.txt.
