Edit Tab Overview

The Edit tab contains commands used to handle file and folder management as well as specialized file selection and comparison, making managing large datasets much simpler.

The Edit tab consists of 3 groups:

Clipboard

Cut

Cuts the currently selected file(s) and/or folder(s) from its current location in preparation to move it to a new location with the Paste command. The selected file(s) and/or folder(s) are then removed from their parent directory, once they have been pasted.

Copy

Copies the currently selected file(s) and/or folder(s) in preparation to paste it to a new location with the Paste command. The selected file(s) and/or folder(s) are not affected once they have been pasted.

Paste

Used in conjunction with Cut and Copy to place the file(s) and/or folder(s) into the target directory.

If a Cut operation was initiated, then the source file(s) and/or folder(s) are removed from their parent directory.

Select

Select All

Selects all files and folders within the active file browser.

Select by Type

Selects all files, within the active file browser, which match common file extensions provided by the drop-down list.

Select Wildcard

Selects all folders and files, within the active file browser, which match a user-specified filter (e.g., "*.html" or "*.mp3").

Invert Selection

Inverts the current selection in the active browser. Unselects all files and/or folders that are currently selected, and selects all files and folders that are not currently selected.

Match

Compare Folders

Compares TWO side-by-side file browsers, highlighting differences between them. Each highlight color has a different meaning. By default, the highlight colors are:

Green: Files and Folders that are identical.

Blue: Files and Folders that do not exist within the other browser.

Red: Files and Folders that share a name but are different in some way (e.g., modification time or file size).

If you would like to automatically enable this feature each time you connect to the remote site, please click here for instructions.
