Documentation forServer Configuration Monitor
Monitoring server configurations is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and is also available in a standalone module, Server Configuration Monitor (SCM). Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and SCM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Alert on SCM data

Alerts can be enabled or disabled and configured through the Alert Manager, found under Alerts & Activity > Alerts > Manage Alerts.

Server Configuration Monitor (SCM) comes with the following out-of-the-box alerts:

Alert name Description
Server configuration has changed Triggers the first time any of the server configuration items being watched are changed. To reduce noise if many changes happen at once, subsequent alerts are suppressed until the alert is cleared.
Server configuration differs from baseline Triggers the first time a configuration item changes in a way that does not match that server's baseline configuration, where previously the configuration did match the baseline.
Policy compliance % is below threshold This alert is triggered when a policy's compliance percentage is below a specific threshold. The percentage is calculated as ratio of passed rules divided by the number of total rules evaluated for all the nodes assigned to this policy. The default threshold is 70%.
Policy rule criteria failed on a node This alert is triggered when a policy rule changes its status to Failed on a node.

You can also create custom alerts using Server Configuration object fields and events, including the baseline status and when the last change was detected, as trigger conditions.
