Documentation forNetFlow Traffic Analyzer
Analyzing network traffic and bandwidth is a key capability of SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted (formerly Hybrid Cloud Observability) and is available in the Advanced edition. NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) is also available in a standalone module.

NTA views

NTA gives highly detailed insight into the quantity and the quality of traffic on your network. The traffic details are provided in easily reviewed tables, charts, and graphs available in widgets on individual views.

View is a web page showing information about your network and the traffic going through individual nodes and interfaces. Views could be described as frames containing various widgets. Every widget shows different details about objects defined by the view. You can customize which widgets you want to have on a view. In other words, views specify what objects-related data you see on the page, and widgets define what details about these objects you want to see.

There are two basic types of views:

  • Summary views show traffic details on all nodes and interfaces managed by NTA, such as top applications, conversations, and endpoints. You can access your summary views either in the NetFlow Views menu bar or by clicking an item in another view. For example, clicking on an application in the Top 5 Applications Summary view displays a summary view covering the use of the selected application in all nodes monitored in NTA.
  • Detail views show traffic information on individual objects in your network, such as interface details, node details, and application details. You can access your detail views by opening a summary view and clicking on the object whose details you want to see.

If you click a node on a view, the view shows widgets for the selected node. In other words, the view is filtered by the node. Such views allow you to set only Ingress and Egress flow directions. Summary views and views filtered for an interface allow all three flow direction options: Ingress, Egress, and Both.
