Manage BMC Performance Manager Portal with Mobile Admin

This section provides information about how to use the Mobile Admin Client to manage the BMC Performance Manager Portal application.

All the procedures in this chapter assume that you are logged in to Mobile Admin and that you have selected a BMC Performance Manager Portal server from your Manage Hosts list, or selected the Performance Manager Portal service from the Manage Services list.

Detection

BMC Performance Manager Portal is found if a service named "bmcportalwebserver" is found on a server

Authentication

Mobile Admin will prompt for BMC Portal credentials.

Communication method

Mobile Admin manages the BMC Portal Server via the BMC Portal web service.

Manage BMC Portal

You can use the BMC Portal application in Mobile Admin to monitor infrastructure elements such as computers and other devices. To access the BMC application, click the BMC Portal Icon from the Mobile Admin Manager Services screen or from a view of a server reached from the Mobile Admin Manage Hosts screen. The infrastructure groups page will be displayed.

View elements within a group

From a view of the infrastructure groups screen, select the group you want to monitor to view a list of elements associated with the group.

Manage elements

1. From a view of the infrastructure groups screen, select the group whose elements you wish to manage.
2. Select an element, and then click Manage Element.
3. Select the application you want to monitor.

List applications

1. From a view of the infrastructure groups screen, select the group whose applications you would like to list.
2. Select an element.

View applications for an element

1. From a view of the infrastructure groups screen, select the group you wish to monitor.
2. Select an element.
3. Select an application.

View parameters

1. From a view of the infrastructure groups screen, select the group you wish to monitor.
2. Select an element.
3. Select an application.
4. Select a parameter.

Receive BMC performance manager portal notifications

Subscribing to the BMC Performance Manager Portal feed allows you to receive notifications on your Mobile Admin dashboard of changes that may occur in your BMC Performance Manager application. You will be notified automatically by Mobile Admin, will be able to view details of the notification, and will be able to take the appropriate response actions quickly. There are two ways to subscribe to the BMC Performance Manager feed:

1. From a view of the Mobile Admin home screen, select Notifications.
2. Scroll down to and select BMC Performance Manager.
3. Enter a name for the feed and, if desired, a contact phone number and URL.
4. Select Subscribe to this Feed.

1. From within the BMC Performance Manager application, select Subscribe to this feed.....
2. Name the feed and, if desired, enter a contact phone number and URL.
3. Select Subscribe to this Feed.
