Release Date: July 15, 2021
These release notes describe the features in Log Analyzer (LA), formerly Log Manager for Orion, 2020.2.6. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.
New in LA 2020.2.6
LA 2020.2.6 is a service release that includes performance enhancements and the bug fixes listed below.
LA 2020.2.6 is an Orion Platform product, and runs on Orion Platform 2020.2.6.
Export and import custom rules
Custom rules created by users can be imported and exported using JSON. Users can select specific custom rules or all custom rules.
New trap/syslog forwarding options
The Hostname field has new forwarding options for traps and syslogs to include the original sender's address or a custom address.
LA 2020.2.6 fixes the following issues:

|00688991||Some traps are not received due to lack of OID resolution|
|00468458||All incoming traps are not received when any are missing credentials.|
|00675315||The Trap Viewer displays an incorrect Source Time that does not match the Date Time.|
|00761267||The database fails to run actions due to deadlocks during maintenance.|
|00626724||The Log Rule Viewer fails to generate alerts and log rules do not list active alerts.|
|N/A||Windows Events and log files do not filter as intended.|
|N/A||SNMPv3 traps do not forward when original address is inserted unless both the Auth. and Encryption pass are defined|
|N/A||Traps and syslogs cannot be forwarded within first 30 seconds of starting the service|
Before you upgrade
If you are adding LA 2020.2.6 to your existing Orion Platform products, make note of the following:
- LA 2020.2.6 requires Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 or later. See the system requirements for details.
- LA 2020.2.6 does not support data migration of existing rules and alerts.
Legacy syslog and traps
If you are using the legacy Syslog and Traps function, note that it will be removed and replaced by Orion Log Viewer in a future release likely to occur in 2022.
LA replaces the existing legacy syslog and trap services. After installation of LA over the legacy syslog and trap services, the records remain in the database, but will not be used by LA. You can still access the read-only legacy records in the Syslog Viewer and Traps Viewer applications. All new syslog and trap messages will be stored in the dedicated LA database.
How to upgrade
Use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to upgrade one or more Orion Platform products simultaneously.
If you are upgrading from LA 1.1.1 or later, you can upgrade your entire Orion deployment, including the main server and all Orion Platform products, from the Settings > My Orion Deployment page. Downloading the Orion Installer is no longer necessary.
