KSS NG 1.2.1 release notes
Release date: July 17, 2024
Kiwi Syslog Server NG 1.2.1 is a service release providing bug and security fixes for release 1.2. For information about the 1.2 release, including EOL notices and upgrade information, see Kiwi Syslog Server NG 1.2 Release Notes.
New features and improvements in KSS NG
Improved log file rotation
Log file rotation no longer fails for users with a heavy load environment.
Log files previously used file names such as SyslogCatchAll.001.txt
that were continuously renamed. Log files are now rotated using timestamps, using unique file names such as SyslogCatchAll-2024-05-01_20240501122448654.txt
.
Unique file names prevent KSS NG from needing to continuously rename files. File rotation using timestamps also helps with prioritizing and managing storage space, creates an easier log archival process, and assists with searching logs for troubleshooting more efficiently.
HTTPS certificate management
Previously, HTTPS certificates were not consistently viewable in the KSS NG web console. Personal and Trusted root HTTPS certificates can now be correctly processed and displayed under Setup > Inputs in the KSS NG web console.
Security improvements
KSS NG 1.2.1 includes improvements to enhance security:
- In GraphQL, Introspection and GET requests were disabled and the GraphQL public client was removed.
- Angular has been upgraded to version 17.
General improvements
-
In the installer, if the port you assign to the KSS NG web interface is not available, the Check port function now displays the name of the service using the specified port number.
