KSS 9.6.7 release notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in Kiwi Syslog Server 9.6.7. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

KSS 9.6.7 fixes the following issues.

00241781 Kiwi Syslog Server is now able to receive, collect, and log messages on TCP protocol connections.
00219189 Kiwi Syslog Server no longer allows username and password fields to auto-fill when logging in to the Kiwi Syslog Web Access, helping prevent unauthorized users access.

Kiwi Syslog Server now enforces a strong password policy for all Kiwi Web Access user accounts. KWA passwords:

  • must be at least 8 characters for user accounts, 15 characters for admin accounts
  • must include both upper and lower case letters, numbers, and at least one special character
  • cannot be the same as the user name
00217021 The KSS MIB kiwi-enterprise-V2.mib file is included in the Kiwi Syslog Server installation files.
00234513, 00147014, 00165190 Each TCP connection in Kiwi Syslog Server is processed on an independent thread, avoiding broken connections or crashes in cases where no log messages are sent over TCP.
00229433 Web Access Active Directory authentication settings "Domain URL", "Authentication Type", "User Groups" are no longer lost after a failed attempt to login with a domain user account.
00236654 Kiwi Syslog Server no longer sends RSET command when using SMTP protocols.

Custom Python scripts do not run or execute as expected
Issue: User-created Python or Visual Basic scripts do not execute as expected when run on Kiwi Syslog Server.

Resolution:

  1. Install the Active Scripting engine for any new languages that you want to script in.

  2. Install Python for Windows Extension to access the Win32 API.
