Activate your ipMonitor license

After you purchase an ipMonitor license from SolarWinds Sales, activate the license. Be sure to create a user profile in the SolarWinds Customer Portal if a current profile does not exist.

Activate the license online

If your ipMonitor server is connected to the Internet, you can activate your ipMonitor license online.

  1. Verify that your ipMonitor server is connected to the Internet through your corporate firewall.
  2. Retrieve your license activation key from the Customer Portal.
    1. Locate your SolarWinds Customer ID.
    2. Log in to the Customer Portal.
    3. Click Licenses > Manage Licenses.
    4. Click the View drop-down menus and locate ipMonitor.
    5. Under License Activation Information, copy the Activation Key code to a text file.
  3. On your ipMonitor server, click Start > SolarWinds ipMonitor > Configure ipMonitor.
  4. Click Software Licensing.
  5. Click "Click here" to License ipMonitor.
  6. When prompted, click Yes to continue.
  7. Enter the new Activation Key and save your changes.
  8. Restart the ipMonitor Service.

Activate the license offline

If your ipMonitor server is not connected to the Internet, you can activate your ipMonitor license online using an alternate computer with an Internet connection.

  1. Using an alternate computer, log in to the Customer Portal.
  2. Retrieve your license.
  3. Retrieve your license activation key from the Customer Portal.
    1. Locate your SolarWinds Customer ID.
    2. Log in to the Customer Portal.
    3. Click Licenses > Manage Licenses.
    4. Click the View drop-down menus and locate ipMonitor.
    5. Under License Activation Information, copy the Activation Key code to a text file.
    6. Transfer the file to your ipMonitor server.
  4. Log in to your ipMonitor server.
  5. Click Start > SolarWinds ipMonitor > Configure ipMonitor.
  6. Click Software Licensing.
  7. Click "Click here" to License ipMonitor.
  8. When prompted, click Yes to continue.
  9. Enter the new Activation Key and save your changes.
  10. Restart the ipMonitor Service.
