Connect lines and assign monitors
You can create logical connections that represent the status of a monitor between any two objects. For example, you can draw a line between two devices and assign a bandwidth monitor to that connection. If the monitor moves into a down state, the state is reflected in the map.
Create a connection between two objects
- Click Devices in the toolbar.
- Click Map > Edit Map.
- In the Drawing Tools palette, click the line drawing tool.
- Drag a line from one object to another.
Assign a monitor to a connection
- Click Devices in the toolbar.
- Click Map > Edit Map.
- In the Drawing Tools palette, click the selection tool.
- Click on an existing connection to select it.
- Click Assign Monitor.
- Select a monitor and click OK.
The monitor status indicators in the Map Editor are not active. Exit the Map Editor to view the true status of the monitor.
