Managing IP addresses is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, IP Address Manager (IPAM). Hybrid Cloud Observability and IPAM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Uninstall IPAM

To uninstall IPAM, use the procedure appropriate for your deployment.

  • A: Remove IPAM from an SolarWinds deployment, leaving the other SolarWinds Platform products installed.
  • B. Remove an IPAM standalone installation.

To uninstall your entire SolarWinds deployment, see Uninstall all SolarWinds Platform products from a server and prepare for reinstall.

Before you start (A & B)

Before you uninstall the product, complete the following tasks.

Back up the existing SolarWinds database.

If the SolarWinds database is on a VM, create a snapshot of the VM.

If you need help with backups, see your database vendor documentation.

Back up your product folders. You might have customizations in these folders specific to your installation.

A. Remove IPAM from an SolarWinds deployment, leaving other SolarWinds Platform products installed

1. Remove product licenses

Follow the steps for your specific product to remove the SolarWinds product licenses.

  1. In the SolarWinds Web Console, select Settings > All Settings > and click License Manager.
  2. In the web-based License Manager, select the product license to remove.
  3. Click Deactivate. This removes the license activation and server assignment.

With the license deactivated, it is parked, or available but unused.

2. Uninstall SolarWinds products
  1. Open Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Select the IPAM product to remove and click Uninstall.
3. Edit root file
  1. Open Orion.Installer.Packaging.root in the C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Packaging\Roots\ directory
  2. Delete the line: <requires id="Orion.Apollo.IPAM" version="[n.n.n.n,]" />
4. Configuration Wizard Complete and let the Configuration Wizard finish.

B. Remove an IPAM standalone installation

1. Remove product licenses

Follow the steps for your specific product to remove the SolarWinds product licenses.

  1. In the SolarWinds Web Console, select Settings > All Settings > and click License Manager.
  2. In the web-based License Manager, select the product license to remove.
  3. Click Deactivate. This removes the license activation and server assignment.

With the license deactivated, it is parked, or available but unused.

2. Uninstall SolarWinds products
  1. Open Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Select the IPAM product and its components to be remove and click Uninstall.
3. Delete or rename SolarWinds folders Delete\Rename Solarwinds folders from the following locations to fully clear all files. Look on the location volume: \Program Files (x86) and volume: \inetpub
4. Remove specific Registry keys

These steps affect your Registry settings. For assistance, contact Support.

  1. Open the command line interface on the server.
  2. Type regedit, and click OK.
  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software.
  4. Delete both the SolarWinds and the SolarWinds.net folders.
  5. If you are uninstalling from a 64-bit computer, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Wow6432Node, and delete

Deleting SolarWinds folders and registries affects the operation of all SolarWinds Platform products.

5. Restart and reinstall Restart the server.
