SFTP/SCP server

The SFTP/SCP server runs as a service, but some basic configuration may be necessary to ensure the SFTP/SCP server performs in a way that works best within your environment. Complete the following procedure to configure your server.

  1. From the Engineer's Toolset for Desktop Launch Pad, start SolarWinds SFTP & SCP Server.
  2. Enter or browse to the location you want to use as your root folder in the Root Directory field.
  3. Select the protocols you want the server to support from the Allowed Protocols list.
  4. Select the options you want to enable in the Permitted File Transfer Operations grouping.
  5. Click the TCP/IP Settings tab, and then specify the port number you want to use in the TCP Port field.
  6. To specify the IP address configuration, click Use custom IP address binding,and then select the IP address you want to use.
  7. To enable user authentication on the server, complete the following procedure.
    1. Click the Users tab.
    2. Click New User.
    3. Enter the user name and password, and then click Apply Changes.
    4. To remove any users, select the user name, and then click Remove.
  8. Click the Startup & System Tray tab.
  9. To start the SFTP/SCP server when Windows starts, select Automatically run this application when I log on to Windows.
  10. Specify if you want the application to close or minimize to the system tray in the Clicking the close button section.
  11. Click OK.
