  • 12/12/2012: End-of-Engineering (EoE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workaround, and service packs for SolarWinds Engineer Toolset v10.7 or older will no longer actively be supported by SolarWinds.
  • 12/12/2013: End-of-Life (EOL) – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for SolarWinds Engineer Toolset v10.7 or older.

New Features & Fixes in Toolset 10.9

  • This release of Toolset includes the following:
  • New Launch Pad helps you organize and find your tools.
  • Added IPv6 support for Proxy Ping, Syslog Server, Subnet List, Remote TCP Session Reset, and Port Scanner
  • Added Juniper support for Workspace Studio memory, CPU and interface monitors, Switch Port Mapper, MAC Finder, Router CPU Load, Advanced CPU Load, and NetFlow Realtime Monitor
  • Added Nexus support for Workspace Studio memory, CPU and interface monitors, Router CPU Load, and Advanced CPU Load.
  • Network Performance Monitor integration menu is now easily customized.
  • Smaller installer for a faster download time.
  • Port Scanner now identifies TFTP Server's UDP Port
  • Port Scanner automatically selects the best network adapter to use to send packets
  • Fixed the issue with reading v9 flows in Netflow Realtime.
  • Fixed the issue with the truncated octet in Syslog Server on some systems.
  • Many fixes and functionality tweaks

Open Issues in Toolset 10.9

  • This release of Toolset includes the following open issues:
  • If you encounter the error “Toolset installation failed during uninstall previous version” during the upgrade procedure, perform a backup and then uninstall your existing version of Toolset and install Toolset 10.9.
  • Syslog Server settings are reset after performing an upgrade from the previous version of Toolset.
  • If you are receiving an error message when installing Toolset 10.9 on a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, ensure that you have installed .NET prior to installation of Toolset.
  • Netflow Realtime, Syslog Server, SNMP Brute Force Attack, and SFTP/SCP Server may be blocked by your Windows Firewall. To launch these tools, click Allow Access.
  • If you are having display issues when using Syslog Server, Port Scanner, Remote TCP Reset, or Subnet List, update your graphic drivers. Display problems may be caused by conflicts between the video driver and DirectX. If your video issue prevents you from navigating to this setting, you may change it manually by exiting out of the tool. Then open the config file for the tool. This is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Toolset\.config. Find the 'SoftwareGraphicsOverride' attribute and change the value from 'False' to 'True'. Then restart the tool. Any DirectX issue should now be resolved.
  • The Netflow Realtime tool is disabled in the Workspace Studio external tool tree in Standard and Free mode. However, Netflow Realtime can be run directly in any mode.
  • Network Performance Monitor - If a user right-clicks a graph, selects Export, then selects PNG format and sets the Export Destination to ClipBoard, the clipboard remains empty. This is an issue in GigaSoft ProEssentials v7 Chart component (Export dialog).
  • Adding a new action in NPM Alerts is broken because two activeXs are not getting registered during installation. Run the command prompt as an Administrator and then run the following commands:
  • regsvr32 /u "c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Toolset\SWAlertActions.dll“
  • regsvr32 "c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Toolset\SWAlertActions.dll"
  • Lookup Hostname and Lookup IP Address on the Network Performance Monitor Integration Menu may not work on some environments. This is due to a component that may not be getting registered. Run C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Toolset\DNS.exe /regsrv from a command prompt as an Administrator.
  • Windows 8 and Windows 2012. Toolset 10.9 was almost complete before these two new OSs became available. We do not officially support them in this release but we have done testing and most everything appears to work. With some caveats:
  • DOS Ping in the integration menu does not work as this command is no longer provided. The user can replace Dos Ping entry in the menu with “Ping.exe” with command line argument of “${IP}”.
  • On Windows 8 the Metro view has each tool as a separate item. This is being investigated for a later release.
