These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in Enterprise Operations Console 2022.3. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for any known issues.

EOC 2022.3 offers new features and improvements compared to previous releases of EOC, including enhanced security over EOC 2020.2.6 and earlier versions.

EOC 2022.3 is now built on the new SolarWinds Platform and installed with the new SolarWinds Installer.

Before you upgrade!

EOC 2022.3 can be upgraded from previous versions 2020.2.1 and later. If you are running a version earlier than EOC 2020.2.1, please upgrade to EOC 2020.2.6 first and then upgrade to version 2022.3.

As always, EOC must be installed on a separate server from the products running on the SolarWinds Platform.

How to upgrade

Use the SolarWinds Installer to upgrade your entire SolarWinds Platform deployment (all Orion Platform products and any scalability engines).

You must be on EOC 2020.2.1 or later to upgrade to EOC 2022.3. If you are on EOC 2020.2 or earlier, first upgrade to 2020.2.6 and then upgrade to 2022.3.

You can upgrade your entire deployment from the My Deployment page (Settings > My Deployment).

Fixed issues in EOC 2022.3

With this release, EOC now runs on the SolarWinds Platform. EOC 2022.3 contains all of the fixed issues since the EOC 2020.2.6 release, including all EOC 2020.2.6 Hot Fixes and fixes in SolarWinds Platform 2022.2 and 2022.3.

EOC 2022.3 fixes the following issues.

Devices Sending Syslog or SNMP-Traps to Orion report produces error
Issue: With the upgrade to EOC 2022.3, the Devices Sending Syslog or SNMP-Traps to Orion report displays an Unknown entity error.
Resolution or Workaround: None

 

During upgrade from EOC 2022.3 RC1 or later version to most recent version, installer might display a warning that the SolarWinds JMX Bridge (Process Id: 9696) must be closed before the installation can continue
Issue: During upgrade from EOC 2022.3 RC1 or later version to most recent version, the installer might display a warning that the SolarWinds JMX Bridge must be closed before the installation can continue.

Resolution or Workaround:

End the JMX Bridge service via Task Manager

  1. Open Task Manager, and end the JMX Bridge service.

    The Process ID is provided in the warning message.

  2. Open Services Manager console (services.msc), and right-click to select Properties.

  3. In the General tab, under Startup Type, select Disabled from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click Apply Changes.

September 14, 2022: End-of-Engineering (EOE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workarounds, and service packs for EOC 2019.4 will no longer be actively supported by SolarWinds.  

September 14, 2023: End-of-Life (EOL) – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for EOC version 2019.4.
2.2 August 15, 2022: End-of-Life (EOL) announcement – Customers on EOC version 2.2 should begin transitioning to the latest version of EOC. End of support

EOC 2022.3 no longer supports the following platforms and features.

Database SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014 are no longer supported for use as the SolarWinds Platform (or Orion Platform) database.

Deprecation notices

This version of Enterprise Operations Console deprecates the following platforms and features.

Deprecated platforms and features are still supported in the current release. However, they will be unsupported in a future release. Plan on upgrading deprecated platforms, and avoid using deprecated features. Customizations applied to a deprecated feature might not be migrated if a new feature replaces the deprecated one.

Legacy Orion Report Writer

Starting with Orion Platform 2019.4 through the most recent SolarWinds Platform release, all out-of-the-box reports are web-based.

In Orion Platform 2020.2.5 and 2020.2.6 and SolarWinds Platform 2022.3, the Report Writer is only available in the ReadOnly mode. Migrate your custom reports to the web.

You can no longer add Report from Orion Report Writer widgets to your views. Existing widgets remain in place.

Network Atlas Network Atlas is deprecated as of this release and will be removed in a future release. SolarWinds recommends that you start using SolarWinds Platform Maps in the SolarWinds Platform Web Console to display maps of physical and logical relationships between entities monitored by the SolarWinds Platform products you have installed.
