Database Performance Analyzer Integration Module 11.1.1 Release Notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in Database Performance Analyzer Integration Module 11.1.1. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

New features and improvements

This release includes the following new features and improvements for Orion Platform 2018.4:

  • Centralized upgrades: Upgrade Additional Polling Engines, Additional Web Servers, and High Availability servers directly from the Orion Web Console. Upgrades run in parallel, reducing the time required to upgrade large deployments. >> Learn more
  • User authentication with the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) protocol: Log in to the Orion Web Console using Okta or Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) credentials. >> Learn more
  • Updated PerfStack-powered chart widgets: Export chart data, configure thresholds for data, and change time periods of data displayed for individual resources and nodes.
  • Orion Diagnostics: Display and download diagnostics for polling engines with the Collect Diagnostics wizard.

New customer installation

DPAIM can be installed in either of the following ways:

  • With SolarWinds SAM

    DPAIM is automatically installed with SolarWinds SAM 6.2.1 or later. If you have SAM 6.2.1 or later, you do not need to install DPAIM. All you have to do is set up the integration module.

    To install SAM, use the SolarWinds Orion Installer.

  • Standalone (SAM not required)

    If you do not plan to install SAM, download and run the SolarWinds Orion Installer to install DPAIM as a separate product. You can install DPAIM alone, or you can install DPAIM with other Orion Platform products such as SolarWinds SRM.

After you install DPAIM, you must set up the DPA Integration Module.

Before you upgrade!

DPAIM 11.1.1 no longer supports Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2 for Orion Platform installations. Upgrade to Windows Server 2016 before you upgrade DPAIM.

DPAIM 11.1.1 fixes the following issues.

 When DPA and the Orion Platform are installed on the same server, the DPA integration with Orion succeeds after a migration without causing issues such as the missing Active Alerts.

 If a named MS SQL database instance includes a forward slash ("/"), DPAIM translates the character to a backslash ("\") to create a relationship between the instance and the node.

When the Orion Platform uses Windows authentication to access the Orion database, attempts to integrate a DPA server no longer fail with the following error:

There was an error when trying to enable the integration with the DPA server: Establishing federation with jSWIS failed.

Database instance limitations do not work properly with groups
Issue: If there are limitations on a user account to prevent the user from viewing information about certain database instances, and a group includes database instances that match the limitations, the limitations have no effect. When the user accesses the group, the user can see information about all database instances despite the limitations. 
Resolution/Work-around: Be aware of this issue when you are setting up security.
