New features and improvements in DPA

DPAIM 10.2 offers new features and improvements compared to previous releases of DPAIM.

Support for multiple DPA servers

  • See information from all of your integrated DPA servers gathered in one place.
  • Drill down into a specific DPA server, and then into one of its monitored database instances.

Database instance layer in AppStack

  • Identify performance and availability issues with the new Database Instances category in the Application Stack of SolarWinds SAM.

Simplified integration setup

  • Relationships are automatically created between the Orion database and nodes and the database instances monitored by DPA.
  • Relationships between applications and database instances are suggested in the relationship wizard.

DPA alerting and reporting in Orion

  • You can create alerts in Orion based on database instances monitored by DPA.
  • You can select DPA resources when creating a report in Orion.

How to upgrade

DPAIM is upgraded automatically when you upgrade SolarWinds SAM.


Fixed issues in DPAIM 10.2

DPAIM 10.2 fixes the following issues.

- Fixed an issue where the DPA log displayed a Call failed with status 403 error after Test Connection was clicked.
- Fixed an issue where JavaScript errors were displayed in the console when users pointed to the Blockers in the Last Hour resource.
994395, 999143, 999641 Fixed issues caused by installing DPA in Orion and other Orion platform products on the same computer.
- Fixed an issue with configuring Custom Object Resources.
943320, 964304 Fixed errors that were displayed on resources in the Database Summary view that contained account limitations on node custom properties.
938996 Fixed an issue with the integration wizard on environments with a large number of applications, nodes, and database instances.
922677 Fixed an issue that prevented Orion platform views and resources from loading when an integrated DPA server was down.
900537 Fixed erroneous banner notifications for expired licenses.
- Fixed an issue where the date on Wait Time Trends resources was one day behind for environments where the time zone is UTC +X hours.

Uninstall DPA in Orion without .NET 3.5
Issue: You cannot uninstall or upgrade from DPA in Orion 10.0.1 on a computer that does not have .NET 3.5 installed.
Resolution/Work-around: Install .NET 3.5 before uninstalling or upgrading from DPA in Orion 10.0.1.

 

Date range is one day behind on Wait Time resources

Issue: The date on Wait Time Trends resources is one day behind for environments where the DPA and Orion servers are in different time zones. The affected resources are:

  • All Instances with the Highest Wait Times
  • Instances with the Highest Wait Times
  • Greatest Downward Wait Time Trends
  • Greatest Upward Wait Time Trends
Resolution/Work-around: Set the DPA and Orion servers to the same time zone.

Alert Manager The Advanced Alert Manager and Basic Alert Manager applications are deprecated features and will be removed in an upcoming release. The web-based Alert Manager replaces this functionality.
