Documentation forServer & Application Monitor
Monitoring your applications and environment is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, Server & Application Monitor (SAM). Hybrid Cloud Observability and SAM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Server Clock Drift (PowerShell)

Use this SAM application monitor template to compare the target server time with Internet time to check for server clock drift.

Depending on how PowerShell is used, it can make your deployment vulnerable to unauthorized access. For details, see Use PowerShell in SAM.

Prerequisites

WinRM is installed and enabled on target servers.

PowerShell 5.1 is installed on target servers.

Credentials

Administrator rights on target server.

This template is not designed to monitor clock drift on the system that hosts SolarWinds Platform server, which requires a custom script that is not supported directly by SolarWinds Support. For details, visit the SolarWinds online IT community, THWACK.

Component monitors

Clock Drift

This monitor shows the clock drift on the target server, in seconds. Positive values of clock drift in the message field indicates that time on the target server is running faster than it should. Negative values indicates time on the target server is running slower than it should. This monitor also returns the current time on the target server.

In the Scripts Arguments field, provide the hostname a NIST Internet Time Server. For example, time.nist.gov.
