Documentation forNetFlow Traffic Analyzer
Analyzing network traffic and bandwidth is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and is also available in a standalone module, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA). Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and NTA are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Uninstall SolarWinds NTA

You can uninstall individual Orion Platform modules, such as NTA 2020.2.6 and earlier. You cannot uninstall SolarWinds Platform products, such as NTA 2022.3 and later.

Complete the following steps to remove only NTA from a SolarWinds Platform deployment (leaving other SolarWinds Platform products).

To uninstall your entire SolarWinds Platform deployment, see Uninstall all SolarWinds Platform products from a server and prepare for reinstall.

Before you start

Before you uninstall the product, complete the following tasks:

  1. Backup the existing database.

    • If you have your database on a VM, create a snapshot or copy of your VM.

    • If you need help with backups, see your database vendor documentation.

    • If you'd like to use SolarWinds Backup, click here for information.

  2. Backup product folders. You may have customizations in these folders specific to your installations.

Remove NTA

To remove NTA from a server, complete the following steps:

  1. Remove product licenses

    1. In the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, select Settings > All Settings.
    2. Under Details, click License Manager.
    3. In the web-based License Manager, select the product license to remove.
    4. Click Deactivate.

This removes the license activation and server assignment.

With the license deactivated, it is parked, or available but unused.

  2. Stop all SolarWinds Platform services:

    1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform server.

    2. Open the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager through Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager.

    3. Click Shutdown Everything.

  3. Remove NTA:

    1. Open Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel.

    2. Right-click NetFlow Traffic Analyzer, and select Uninstall.

  4. Run the Configuration wizard.

The SolarWinds Configuration wizard opens when the uninstallation is complete. If the Configuration wizard does not load automatically, start the Configuration wizard through Start > SolarWinds Orion > Configuration Wizard.

The Configuration wizard runs to verify other elements of your SolarWinds Platform deployment and makes repairs if needed.

  5. On the Welcome panel of the Configuration wizard, select all components and click Next.

  6. Complete the wizard. Accept the default values for your existing database and website settings. On the Service Settings panel, leave all services checked.

  7. Delete or rename the following files or folders if they are present. If you installed to a different drive, use that drive instead of C:\.

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NetFlowTrafficAnalysis

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Modules\NTA

  8. Remove NTA-related registry keys:

These steps affect your Registry settings. SolarWinds recommends backing up your Registry before making any changes. For assistance, contact Support.

    1. Open a Command Prompt on the SolarWinds Platform server.
    2. Type regedit, and press Enter.
    3. Expand Hkey_Local_Machine > Software > Wow6432Node > SolarWinds > Orion.

    4. Delete the NetFlow Traffic Analyzer folder.

  9. Restart the server.
