Documentation forNetwork Configuration Manager
Managing network configurations is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and is also available in a standalone module, Network Configuration Manager (NCM). Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and NCM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Download network configuration files manually

You can schedule a job to regularly download network config files for backup. You can also manually download configuration files to view the current configuration of your managed devices, compare current and previous configurations, or back up a config outside the scheduled job.

Downloaded configuration files are stored in the database and in the specified archive location.

Download from a single node

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console using an account that has the WebDownloader, WebUploader, Engineer, or Administrator role.
  2. Click My Dashboards > Network Configuration > Config Summary.
  3. In the NCM node list, click the node whose config you want to download.

    The Config Details page opens.

  4. In the left pane, click Configs .
  5. In the Download Config widget, select the config type, and click Download.
  6. If you receive a connection error, click Fix Connection in Device Template, and follow the Device Template wizard.

Download from one or more nodes

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console using an account that has the WebDownloader, WebUploader, Engineer, or Administrator role.
  2. Click My Dashboards > Network Configuration > Configuration Management.
  3. Select the devices whose configs you want to download.
  4. Above the list of nodes, click Download and then click the config type.

A confirmation message shows the number of devices you are downloading configs from.

  5. Verify that the number of devices is correct, and click Yes.

If you select devices and then navigate away from the page or filter the list, NCM retains your previous selections. If the number of devices is higher than expected, click No, click Clear Selection, and repeat the previous steps.

  6. Monitor the job progress on the Transfer Status page.
