Documentation forVoIP & Network Quality Manager
Monitoring VoIP and network quality is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, VoIP & Network Quality Manager (VNQM). Hybrid Cloud Observability and VNQM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

SIP monitoring on Cisco CUBE devices

SolarWinds VoIP and Network Quality Manager (VNQM) supports gateway SIP monitoring on Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) devices. You can review the list of SIP trunks on the device, including dial peer number, description, and keep alive status. You can also poll keep alive status, call activity, and utilization metrics for each SIP trunk.

You can also review the SIP trunk statistics for Cisco CUBE devices in the Performance Analysis charts (PerfStack™) in the SolarWinds Platform Web Console.

Enable SIP trunk monitoring for a new Cisco CUBE gateway

In order to poll SIP-related, SolarWinds VNQM requires CLI credentials with enable mode.

You can specify the CLI credentials when you add a new gateway to SolarWinds VNQM:

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as an administrator.
  2. Click Settings > All Settings.
  3. Under Product Specific Settings, click VoIP & Network Quality (VNQM) Settings.
  4. Click Add gateways.
  5. Select VoIP Gateways to Add: Select the Cisco CUBE node which you want to add to VNQM as a gateway.
  6. Click Next.
  7. The CLI Credentials Issues dialog pops up. Modify CLI credentials to solve the issues:
    1. Select the Cisco CUBE device whose CLI credentials you want to edit.
    2. Click Edit Credentials.
    • Define a new set of credentials in the Username and Password fields.
    • Select Enable from the Enable Level drop-down.
    • Enter the password associated with the enable level in the Enable Password field.
    • Click Save to apply your CLI credential settings on the selected nodes.

    1. Click Select Successful to select the Cisco CUBE node whose CLI credentials have been updated successfully.
    2. Click Continue to add the selected Cisco CUBE node to VNQM as a gateway node.
  8. Review the information, and click Finish to add the selected gateway.

SIP trunk monitoring on Cisco CUBE devices starts automatically as soon as CLI credentials are validated and saved. For more information, see Add Gateways to SolarWinds VNQM.
