Update an existing container service

This Orion Platform topic applies only to the following products:

SAMVMAN

Currently, there is no direct way to edit an existing container service in the Orion Web Console. Instead, you'll need to remove containers from your environment, and then add the container service back again. The Orion Monitor and Orion Aggregator containers will automatically detect all containers running on servers, along with any updated container service settings..

You may need to do this if you:

  • Upgrade SAM or VMAN. When you add the container service back to the Orion Platform, YAML files and agent plugins are refreshed.
  • Change container polling intervals on the Advanced Configuration page, accessible by navigating to http://localhost/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspxInterval.

Polling interval changes apply to future container services added to the Orion Platform only.

To update an existing container service:

  1. Follow the steps in Delete a container service, along with instructions provided for supported services in the following topics:
  2. After you delete container data from nodes, the status of the related container service should switch to Down.

  3. Add the container service back to the Orion Platform with updated settings.

Wait for the list of container services to refresh. This may take up to 10 minutes — the equivalent of two polling intervals. The Orion Monitor and Orion Aggregator containers will automatically detect all containers running on servers.
