These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in NetFlow Traffic Analyzer 4.2.3. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

New features and improvements in NTA 4.2.3
NTA 4.2.3 offers new features and improvements compared to previous releases of NTA.
NTA 4.2.3 is a service release.
NTA 4.2.3 runs on Orion Platform 2017.3

New customer installation
For information about installing NetFlow Traffic Analyzer, see the SolarWinds Orion Installer.
Starting with NTA 4.2, the NTA Flow Storage Database is no longer supported on additional pollers and additional websites, and needs to be installed on a dedicated server. This includes NTA versions 4.2.1 through 4.2.3.
How to upgrade
If you are upgrading from NTA 4.2.3 or later, use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to upgrade one or more Orion Platform products simultaneously.
If you are upgrade from an earlier version, use the following resources to plan and implement an upgrade to NTA 4.2.3. Then use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to complete the upgrade.
- If you are upgrading NTA and other modules (SAM, NCM, NTA, etc.), use the multiple products upgrade guide.
- If you are upgrading NTA as a stand-alone product, use the single product upgrade guide.
NTA 4.2.3 fixes the following issues.
|NTA displays unknown netflow events from Cisco ASR v16.4 when NBAR is configured, due to both Flow templates and NBAR2 Options template using the same IDs.|
|NTA is receiving flows from an unmanaged interface that does not exist in the device when you run an SNMP walk.|
|Packets dropped due to poor performance of the SQL server or NTA Service.|
|The Top 5 Endpoints resource is not loading on the summary page. This includes the main summary page and also the Top 5 Endpoints summary page. The page displays a message
|NTA Flow Storage Database backup fails. Connection to the NTA Flow Storage Database is lost every 5-7 minutes.|
|NTA receives flows with long interface indexes.|
|CBQoS data show incorrect policy rate for interfaces.|
|CBQoS data displays incorrect values for historical data.|
|NTA receives NetFlow data from unmanaged interfaces with very large index values.|
|Alert "Unknown traffic reported" triggered from managed node.|

End of support
This version of NetFlow Traffic Analyzer no longer supports the following platforms and features.
|Microsoft SQL Server||
SQL 2008 and 2008 R2 are no longer supported as your database server as of this release.
SolarWinds recommends that you upgrade directly to SQL 2016 at your earliest convenience.
|Microsoft Windows Server||
You cannot install SolarWinds Orion products on Windows Server 2008 R2 as of this release.
SolarWinds recommends that you upgrade to Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, or 2016 at your earliest convenience.
|Export to PDF feature||
The Export to PDF button is no longer available.
SolarWinds recommends that you use the Save as PDF functionality built into your browser.
This version of NetFlow Traffic Analyzer deprecates the following platforms and features.
Deprecated platforms and features are still supported in the current release. However, they will be unsupported in a future release. Plan on upgrading deprecated platforms, and avoid using deprecated features. Customizations applied to a deprecated feature might not be migrated if a new feature replaces the deprecated one.

|All Active Alerts resource||
The current All Active Alerts resources is deprecated. The resource is replaced with the new, enhanced widget All Alerts. You can continue to use the deprecated, legacy resource.
(Availability, Min/Max/Average, Percent Loss, etc.)
|Most pre-configured resources are deprecated as of this release. The resources will be compressed into single, configurable widget in a future release.|
|Last XX resources||Pre-configured Last XX resources are deprecated as of this release. They will be replaced with a single, configurable widget in a future release.|
The current Managed Nodes page is deprecated as of this release. A new version is available, but you can continue to use the legacy page.
SolarWinds recommends migrating to the new Managed Nodes page at your earliest convenience.
|Customize Views||The Customize View page is deprecated as of this release. Functionality is migrating to the Customize Page feature.|
(legacy search, search on thwack, search for nodes, etc.)
|All search resources are deprecated as of this release. Use the integrated search in the global navigation.|
