SolarWinds Unified Logins

Using SolarWinds® Unified Login, you can easily access other SolarWinds DevOps products — AppOptics, Papertrail, and Pingdom—right from Loggly and activate a free trial in seconds. Once the product has been activated, you can freely navigate between products and/or access the activated product directly using the same Loggly login credentials. You won’t need to manage multiple credentials across different SolarWinds DevOps products.

This introduces a change to the login process. Starting November 19, 2018, Loggly users will need to authenticate using an email address as opposed to using a username. The SolarWinds Unified Login uses email as a unique identifier for the user across SolarWinds DevOps products.

Organizations, Accounts, and Users

When you create an account with Loggly, we create an organization for you behind the scenes. You are the designated organization owner and are automatically added as a team member with an Admin role. You have the option to add more team members to that organization.

If you are invited to an existing organization, you are identified by your unique email address and added to the organization with the role (e.g., Admin, User) chosen by the person who invited you.

With Unified Login, you have access to ALL SolarWinds DevOps products. You can also participate in multiple instances of each product if you are a member of several organizations. For example, if you are logged in to your Loggly account, the profile menu will show you all the Loggly organizations you have access to. If you use the App Switcher to switch to AppOptics, the profile menu in AppOptics will show you all the AppOptics organizations you have access to.

It’s important to note that when you switch from one product to another, for example, from Loggly to AppOptics, and then switch organizations within AppOptics, you are in a different organization than you started. If you then switch back to Loggly you will switch in the context of the last organization you were in. If you don’t have a Loggly account in that organization context, you will be asked to start a new trial.

What are the new items in my profile dropdown?

Your profile dropdown now shows a list of organizations (or subdomains) you can access. This allows you to quickly switch between your organizations within Loggly.

How are the accounts linked?

Your email address is now your unique identifier. You can be associated with multiple organizations. Each organization you are a member of will show up in the profile menu.

I can’t access my account. What should I do?

Please make sure you are trying to access the account with the correct email address. If you need assistance on finding out what email address is associated with your account, please contact our support team (

I think I am missing some of the accounts in the dropdown. What should I do?

If you want to access a different Loggly organization (or subdomain), ask that organization owner in your company to invite you, using your email address. Once your email address is added to the organization, it will show up in your profile dropdown menu.

Why am I being shown this activation page?

When you are cross-launching Loggly from other SolarWinds DevOps products for the first time, you’ll see the Loggly activation page above. This activation page helps you to properly set up a new Loggly account by associating it with:

  • an existing organization (that was likely set up from another SolarWinds DevOps product)
  • a subdomain (that you specify)

The pull-down menu on the left will show you a list of organizations you’re associated with. Select an organization, add the subdomain, and click on the "start free trial" button.

I don’t want to activate a new account. How can I go to an existing account associated with my email address?

We’re working on providing an easier access to existing accounts. For now, you can directly access your existing account by entering the following URL [your_subdomain] Once you are in Loggly, you should see all the Loggly accounts your email is associated with in the profile dropdown menu.

I have multiple Loggly accounts registered with the same email, but different usernames.  I previously gave out usernames to different groups in my company to control access. If my users sign in with my email they will have access to all the accounts. What can I do?

Since an email address is now the unique identifier, you will want to make sure that each organization (Loggly account with a unique subdomain) has a unique email address associated with it. Once you have ensured that each organization has a unique email associated with it, log in to each organization and make sure that each person who should have access to the organization is added with their individual email addresses. Users can be associated with many organizations, so when you invite a user to several organizations with their unique email address, they will see the list of organizations in their profile dropdown. This approach simplifies user management and makes it clearer who has access to which organization.

I have multiple emails with different users in the same account. When I try to change the email for one user, it changes it for all users. What can I do?

Create a new user with the new desired email address. You can then delete the user you would like to replace, and you will be prompted to migrate over existing alerts and other items associated with the user.
