Edit a map

You can change the layout and scale of any map using the map editor. The following table lists the tasks and steps for editing a map.

Basic map editing tasks

If you want to... Do this...
Add a map to the Dashboard tab
  1. Click Dashboard in the toolbar.
  2. Click the Add Widgets drop-down menu and select Map.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click the map title and drag the map to your desired location.
View a map of a device or group
  1. Click Devices in the toolbar.
  2. Select the targeted group or device in the Groups menu.
  3. Click Map.
Resize a map
  1. In the map resource, click the Edit drop-down menu and select Edit this Map.
  2. In the map toolbar, move the Scale slider to zoom in our out.

    or

    Click Fit to Screen to automatically maximize the map.

  3. Click Save.
Edit a map
  1. Click Devices in the toolbar.
  2. Select a device or group in the Groups menu with the map you want to edit.
  3. In the toolbar, click Map.
  4. Click Edit Map.
  5. Make any changes as required.
  6. Click Save.
Move map objects within the map
  1. In the map resource, click the Edit drop-down menu and select Edit this Map.
  2. Click the Auto Layout menu, select a layout type.
  3. Click Save.

You can also select an object and drag it to a new location.

Add a background to the map
  1. In the map resource, click the Edit drop-down menu and select Edit this Map.
  2. Click the Change Background drop-down menu and select click Upload Background.
  3. Click Browse, and then select a JPG, PNG, or GIF format image file.
  4. Click Upload.
  5. Click Save.
Change the icon of a map object
  1. In the map resource, click the Edit drop-down menu and select Edit this Map.
  2. Click the object.
  3. Click the Icons list and select an icon category.
  4. Click an icon.
  5. Click Save.

Resize an object

Click the object and drag the bounding box to resize.
