See IPAM 4.8 system requirements for system, software, database, and port requirement information.

IPAM 4.8 is an Orion Platform product and uses Orion Platform 2018.4.

Storage Resource Monitor (IPAM) 4.8 includes the following features:

Support for your Infoblox environment

IPAM 4.8 introduces monitoring support for Infoblox. You can now monitor DHCP, DNS and IP information coming from your Infoblox environment.

Custom properties replace custom fields

New customer installation

For information about installing IP Address Manager, see the SolarWinds Orion Installer.

Before you upgrade!

Use the following resources for planning and upgrading:

  • IPAM 4.8 uses the Orion Platform 2018.4.
  • IPAM 4.8 requires Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2014 or higher. For complete system requirements, see IPAM 4.8 system requirements.
  • To use IPAM 4.8 and UDT together, you must upgrade to UDT 3.3.1 or 3.3.2.
  • When upgrading, if you added a site binding to a host name before you upgrade, you must bind the Orion Web Console to a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). See this article.
  • When upgrading with custom menus, you cannot see the Performance Dashboard link in the menu. For details, see this article.
  • When upgrading an Additional Poller, you may receive this error : "The license we have for Orion Scalability Engine is outdated". See this article for details to resolve.

How to upgrade

If you are upgrading from IPAM 4.3.1 or later:

  1. Use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to simultaneously upgrade one or more Orion Platform products on your main Orion server.

  2. If your scalability engines (additional polling engines, additional web servers, and high availability servers) are able to communicate with the main server, use the centralized upgrade feature to upgrade the rest of your Orion deployment in parallel.

For details, see Install or upgrade Orion Platform products.

With IPAM 4.9 and later, you can upgrade your entire Orion deployment, including the main server and all Orion Platform products, from the My Orion Deployment page. Downloading the Orion Installer for future upgrades is no longer necessary.

If you are upgrading from IPAM 4.3 or earlier, use this topic to plan and implement an upgrade to the current version of IPAM.
