IP Address Manager 2020.2 Release Notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in IP Address Manager 2020.2. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

New features and improvements

IPAM 2020.2 includes the following features:

Refreshed User Interface

  • Improved DHCP & DNS management page

    The new DHCP & DNS management page is not compatible with Internet Explorer. SolarWinds recommends using a different browser (such as Chrome, or Firefox) for the best user experience.

  • Dynamic filtering to find resources faster
  • Improved workflows to streamline key tasks
  • Legacy pages remain supported via toggle

New customer installation

How to upgrade

Use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to simultaneously upgrade one or more Orion Platform products on your main Orion server.

With IPAM 4.9 and later, you can upgrade your entire Orion deployment, including the main server and all Orion Platform products, from the My Orion Deployment page. Downloading the Orion Installer for future upgrades is no longer necessary.

Fixed issues

IPAM 2020.2 fixes the following issues.

00435646 Export of IP address lists for non-admin users enabled.
00370755 Issue where IPAM was unable to restart the DHCPD process with a large lease configuration file resolved.
00211085 BIND configuration issue resolved.

Known issues

Orion Web Console does not work if IPAM 2020.2 is uninstalled, and reinstalled
Issue: If IPAM 2020.2 is installed with or without other Orion Platform products, then uninstalled via the Windows Control Panel, and then reinstalled, the Orion Web Console does not work.
Work-around: Remove the <requires id="Orion.Apollo.IPAM" version="[2020.2.0.2421,]" /> line (version number may vary) in the Orion.Installer.Packaging.root file stored in the C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Packaging\Roots directory after uninstalling IPAM via the Windows Control Panel but before running ConfigurationWizard.

September 4, 2021: End-of-Life – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for IP Address Manager version 4.8 or older.
4.7 November 7, 2019: End-of-Life (EoL) announcement – Customers on IP Address Manager version 4.7 should begin transitioning to IP Address Manager version 2020.2 February 7, 2020: End-of-Engineering (EoE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workaround, and service packs for IP Address Manager version 4.7 or older will no longer actively be supported by SolarWinds. February 7, 2021: End-of-Life – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for IP Address Manager version 4.7 or older.
4.6 September 6, 2019: End-of-Life (EoL) announcement – Customers on IP Address Manager version 4.6 should begin transitioning to IP Address Manager version 2020.2 December 6, 2019: End-of-Engineering (EoE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workaround, and service packs for IP Address Manager version 4.6 or older will no longer actively be supported by SolarWinds. December 6, 2020: End-of-Life – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for IP Address Manager version 4.6 or older.
