OpsWorks

Overview

AWS OpsWorks is a configuration management service that uses Chef, an automation platform that treats server configurations as code.

Setup

Installation

If you haven't already, first set up the AWS CloudWatch integration. No additional steps are needed for installation.

Configuration

On the AWS CloudWatch integration page, ensure that the OpsWorks service is selected for metric collection.

Metrics

Name Description

cpu_idle

(percent)

The percentage of time that the CPU is idle.

cpu_nice

(percent)

The percentage of time that the CPU is handling processes with a positive nice value, which have a lower scheduling priority.

cpu_steal

(percent)

The percentage of time that an instance is waiting for the hypervisor to allocate physical CPU resources.

cpu_system

(percent)

The percentage of time that the CPU is handling system operations.

cpu_user

(percent)

The percentage of time that the CPU is handling user operations.

cpu_waitio

(percent)

The percentage of time that the CPU is waiting for input/output operations.

memory_buffers

(count)

The amount of buffered memory.

memory_cached

(count)

The amount of cached memory.

memory_free

(count)

The amount of free memory.

memory_swap

(count)

The amount of swap space.

memory_total

(count)

The total amount of memory.

memory_used

(count)

The amount of memory in use.

load_1

(count)

The load averaged over a one-minute window.

load_5

(count)

The load averaged over a five-minute window.

load_15

(count)

The load averaged over a 15-minute window.

procs

(count)

The number of active processes.
