Documentation forVirtualization Manager
Monitoring virtual environments is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and is also available in a standalone module, Virtualization Manager (VMAN). Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and VMAN are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

The legacy VMAN appliance

For versions prior to 8.0, the VMAN virtual appliance was the polling engine for VMAN. The appliance was installed and maintained as a virtual machine instance in your VMware or HyperV environment. To work with the SolarWinds Platform, the appliance had to be integrated and synchronized.

End of Life

When VMAN 2020.2.1 was released, the appliance reached End of Life. The VMAN appliance is no longer updated with security updates, bug fixes, or new features. It should no longer be used.

All VMAN functionality now works completely within the SolarWinds Platform without the need for integration or synchronization.

New users

New users do not need to install or use the appliance. VMAN is fully functional as part of the SolarWinds Platform out of the box.

Existing users already using the appliance

If you're an existing user still using the VMAN appliance, it's time to retire the appliance and move fully over to the SolarWinds Platform. You can follow our VMAN Upgrade Guide, which will walk you through the process.
